BF6 Players Concur: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with widespread acclaim, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, many players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun resorting to personalized games set up using the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how arduous these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of acquiring 12 of the 41 main guns found within the game.

A number of these gated guns could shortly earn a place on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and only works at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Overly Demanding Task

One more community participant highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and maybe a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the spirit of the game.

However, when completing the missions in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.

For now, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
