I cannot count on three years at Manchester United - the United boss

Manchester United head coach

The Manchester United coach - seen receiving consolation after May's Europa League final defeat - notes he is satisfied by Sir Jim Ratcliffe's extended support but underscored that what lies ahead is unknown in soccer.

United's manager the Portuguese coach thinks it is important the co-owner went public with his long-term thoughts - but says nothing is certain about the future in the sport, never mind three seasons.

In an interview with a leading newspaper recently, Ratcliffe said it could take the manager three seasons to create substantial change at United's home ground.

Coming in a period when the manager's position has been under scrutiny after a prolonged run of unsatisfactory outcomes, the words contributed to reducing a portion of the current stress.

But, speaking before the 100th meeting with historic adversaries Liverpool at Anfield, the manager stressed that the future is hard to predict in the beautiful game.

"It is really good to hear it but he tells me all the time, occasionally through communication post fixtures - but understand, I'm aware and the co-owner recognizes, that soccer doesn't work that way," he stated.

"The most important thing is the following fixture. Regardless of investors, you cannot control the future in the sport."

CEO the club executive has conceded it has required significantly extended periods for the head coach to adapt to the Premier League subsequent to his appointment from Sporting Lisbon during the winter than anyone imagined.

Manchester United have achieved 10 victories in 34 league games under the 40-year-old. They still haven't achieved two league games in a row and haven't finished a fixture schedule this season higher than ninth.

The worrying figures are challenging confidence in the head coach among the Red Devils supporters entering a run of games their team has struggled during for the past two seasons.

Amorim said he isn't experiencing the doubt inside the club at the team's practice complex and is insistent nothing equals the stress he puts on the team - and to some extent, he would rather Ratcliffe to refrain from seeking to create tranquility because he worries the effect it might produce on the squad.

"It isn't merely a thing that people talk about, I experience it daily," he stated. "It's truly positive to receive it because it assists our supporters to grasp the leadership understand it will require some time.

"However simultaneously, I dislike it because it creates an impression that we possess time to solve problems. I don't want that impression in our organization.

"The expectation I place on the squad or on myself is so much bigger [compared to external sources]. In the sport, specifically at large organizations, you have to show your worth every weekend."
