The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
